SPLIT

The Croatian city of Split is a vast open-air museum.  The Roman Diocletian's Palace facing out to sea is the centrepiece of the old town. Today its six-foot-thick walls are home to shops, bars and local artists.  The ancients street tiles worn smooth by centuries of traffic are now covered by vibrant street cafes.  The rest of the town is a dream to archaeologists and to modern-day people-watchers alike who can soak up the vibrant atmosphere of a Split city break.  Direct flights from London Gatwick and London Luton (summer only).
