Day 2
Krakow: A natural starting point for any visitor to Krakow, Rynek Glowny represents the heart of the Old Town. The largest marketplace in Europe and the focal point for city events, Rynek Glowny exudes a stunning diversity of architectural styles. Also top of the list must surely be the Royal Castle and Cathedral. Symbol of Poland’s national pride and identity and representing the very best of Krakow’s architectural treasures, they sit atop Wawel Hill. For centuries a seat of kings and a former royal coronation and burial site during Krakow’s tenure as the country’s capital, today Wawel Castle and Cathedral offer a wealth of historical and architectural attractions including the Polish crown jewels and a unique ecclesiastical interior.

Day 3
Krakow: For centuries Kazimierz represented Krakow’s Jewish Quarter, yet following the war, only a handful of survivors remained. The backdrop to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 epic Schindler’s List, Kazimierz is today one of Krakow’s most vibrant and atmospheric communities, jam-packed with historic synagogues, bustling cafes, antique shops and art galleries.

For those who wish to make a special journey of remembrance, we can arrange trips to Auschwitz-Birkenau.  (Please ask for details.) A name synonymous with tragedy, persecution and mass genocide, Auschwitz was the largest of the World War II concentration and extermination camps and has come to symbolise one of the most horrific acts in recent human history. Without a doubt, this is a thoroughly sombre and moving trip, but one that will resonate for years to come.

Day 4
Krakow: For a complete contrast to the awesome architecture so symbolic of ‘classic’ Krakow, Nowa Huta represents the antithesis of heritage and tradition. A rather eerie example of 1950’s social engineering and regarded as Stalin’s gift to Krakow, Nowa Huta was the Socialist answer to the post-war push for industrialisation. With milk bars by the dozen and tours available by authentic Trabant cars, this is as much an excursion back in time as it is an opportunity to see a very different side to Krakow.

Day 5
You will be collected from your hotel in Krakow and driven by private car to your hotel in Zakopane where you will spend 3 nights.

Day 6
Zakopane: The region of Zakopane is widely recognised for its unspoiled nature and magnificent landscapes. The ideal place to relax and unwind either by doing very little and just enjoying the scenery or by taking advantage of 250km of trails, perfect for summer hiking.

Day 7
Zakopane: The town is also known for its unique turn-of-the-20th-century wooden chalets. You may also find time to visit the Tatra Museum. Founded in 1875, it is one of the oldest regional museums in Poland. With some charming folk interiors and a range of local costumes and art, it has plenty to give a flavour of Highland style.

Day 8
Join the private transfer from your hotel to the airport for the return flight to the UK
