Departing from Manchester

Day 1

Fly direct to Madrid: On arrival join the private transfer to your hotel where you will spend 3 nights.

Day 2

Madrid: One of the main attractions that draw visitors to Madrid are the museums of the Golden Triangle. All within easy walking distance of each other the Museo del  Prado, Regina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums house a fantastic selection of world class art from old masters like Reubens, Picasso, Dali and Van Gogh. With some 73 museums in total, art and culture are central to Madrid life.

Day 3

Madrid: Relax and take in the beautiful buildings over a coffee in one of the market squares or Basque in the splendour of Palacio Real – The Royal Palace. Next to the palace is the Plaza de Oriente,  the Opera House and the modern Almudena Cathedral, consecrated by Pope John Paul II in 1993. Madrid is also a green city with Retiro Park, Casa de Campo and Casa del Moro gardens amongst the most popular places of tranquillity within the busy city.

Day 4

Make your own way to the railway station for the journey by rail to Cordoba where you will spend 2 nights. The journey takes approximately 1hr 40min.

Day 5

Cordoba: In the 10th century, this Andalucian jewel was the largest city in Western Europe and quite possibly the world. The city is renowned for the Mezquita mosque, one of the most breathtaking examples of Muslim architecture in Spain. But there is more to Cordoba than one building alone, surrounding the Mezquita is the medieval Jewish quarter, a labyrinth of charming cobbled streets and, of course, you will be taken in by the lively vibe coming from the restaurants and bars overlooking the Guadalquivir river.

Day 6

Make your own way to the railway station for the journey by rail to Ronda. The train departs mid-morning and the journey takes just under 2 hours.

Day 7

Ronda: Set dramatically above a deep gorge, Ronda is all about location. One of Spain's oldest towns, the roots go back to Islamic times when Ronda was an important cultural centre filled with mosques and palaces. The impressive location has also proved to be a favourite with many of the 19th century Romantic writers and artists such as Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles.

Day 8

Join the private transfer from your hotel to Malaga airport for the return flight to the UK
