At a glance itinerary:

Day 1

Fly direct to Pisa. On arrival join the transfer to your hotel where you will spend 1 night.

Day 2

Pisa: Take time to visit the Leaning Tower, one of Italy's trademark sights before making your way to the railway station for the journey by rail to Lucca where you will spend 2 nights. (Journey time approximately 30 mins.)

Day 3

Lucca: Enclosed within well-preserved Renaissance city walls, Lucca’s historic quarter is a delight to explore. Amble along the cobbled streets and explore the elegant piazzas. Broad, tree-lined pathways along the tops of the massive 16th and 17th century ramparts have become a pedestrian promenade and one of Lucca’s main attractions.

Day 4

Make your own way to the railway station for the journey by rail to Florence where you will spend 4 nights. (Journey time 1hr 20mins.)

Day 5

Florence: The city is very much akin to a living, breathing museum. Every step reveals a treasure from Florence's long and colourful history. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo, is a Gothic masterpiece. The magnificent dome, built by Brunelleschi, dominates the Florentine skyline and boasts wonderful panoramic views over the city.

Day 6

Florence: The undisputed jewel in Florence's crown has to be the Uffizi Gallery. The Uffizi boasts the world's finest collection of Renaissance art, bestowed upon the city by the mighty Medici family and has been on display to the public since 1591.

Day 7

Florence: For a change of scene, make for the picturesque Ponte Vecchio which straddles the River Arno and is one of Florence's most iconic landmarks. Browse the jewellery sellers, art dealers and souvenir shops before continuing on to the Palazzo Pitti, the one time residence of the Pitti Family in the 15th century but now home to several of the city's museums. A stroll in the neighbouring Boboli Gardens would make a pleasant end to the day.

Day 8

Make your own way the Santa Maria Novella railway station where you will join the airport bus to Pisa airport for the return flight to the UK.
