Munich: The city's silhouette is defined by its many churches. One of the most note worthy is the Frauenkirche located in Munich’s Old Town, not far from the centrally located Marienplatz. In World Heavily damaged by air strikes during World War II, the Church was later rebuilt and renovated in several construction phases. The south tower of the cathedral can be climbed and offers a unique, wide view across the rooftops of Munich and on to the Alps. In the entrance of this imposing late-Gothic interior you encounter among other things the legendary devil’s footprint in the floor of the church. And of course, no visit to Munich is complete without enjoying excellent Bavarian hospitality in one of the many beer halls dotted around the city.
Make your own way to the station for the journey by rail to Salzburg where you will spend 2 nights. (Journey time approximately 1.5hrs.)
Salzburg: Home of Mozart, the city is rich in music, history and culture. Salzburg Castle is a must during your time in the city. One of the biggest castles of Europe, Salzburg′s fortress provides its visitors with stunning views over the valley. The castle is undoubtedly Salzburg′s prime attraction and most dominant feature of the city′s skyline.
Make your own way to the station for the journey by rail to Vienna where you will spend 3 nights. (Journey time is approximately 2hrs 20mins.)
Vienna: For anyone with an interest in classical music or opera, a visit to Vienna is almost like a pilgrimage. Great composers of the “Viennese School” include Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn. The Vienna Boys Choir is widely known for the boys’ angelic voices and sailor suits and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is considered to be one of the best in the world.
Vienna: There’s so much to see in Vienna that you’re almost spoilt for choice, but two of the city’s lesser known museums are well worth a visit. The Vienna Furniture Museum is home to the Imperial furniture collection and is housed in the building where the Hapsburgs stored their furniture. The museum’s displays and special exhibitions include current furniture developments and designs. The Museum of Technology is a fascinating place to visit for anyone who has an interest in how things work. The unique exhibits, from the past to the future, make the museum a showplace for exciting technological developments.
