What to see on Prague City Breaks
Filling your days on a city break to Prague is easy. The city is steeped in history. A good starting for your city break sightseeing is Prague Castle. Prague Castle rises high above the city, where buildings are topped by the Gothic spires of St Vitus’s Cathedral.
You can pass many pleasant hours on your Prague city break by soaking up the atmosphere of the Old Town Square, featuring the signature Astronomical Clock which has been in service since 1490. Sitting in one of the main pavement cafés of the Old Town Square just observing the hustle and bustle of the many peddlers and buskers can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon on your Prague city break. For a romantic touch to your short break, try a horse drawn carriage ride around the Old Town.
No city break to Prague would be complete without visiting the Jewish Quarter and in particular the haunting Old Jewish Cemetry. You enter the cemetery via the Pinkas Synagogue where the interior walls are covered with the names of 80,000 Holocaust victims from Bohemia and Moravia.
If you can spend a bit more time on your Prague city break, you might feel like exploring out of the city. The medieval silver mining town on Kutna Hora and the Bohemian spa town of Karlovy Vary are both easily reached by bus from the station at Florenc and would make interesting day trips during your Prague city break.
