If you are planning a city break to New York, there are frequent flights between UK airports and New York’s airports JFK International and Newark. JFK International is New York City’s main airport and is located 15 miles southeast of the city. Newark airport is also situated just 16 miles southwest of the city. Both airports offer transfers by coach or taxi and from JFK it is also possible to transfer by subway.

New York City Breaks
Travelling around the “Big Apple” is part of the New York City break experience. Exploring on foot, you are surrounded by exciting sights and sounds; taking the subway is a typical New York City experience and hailing an iconic yellow cab is rather fun.

In 1886 it was presented as a gift from France to the USA to represent America’s Independence and the freedom and opportunity offered to those who arrived at Ellis Island as immigrants. Many visitors on a city break to New York City make a day trip to Ellis Island, the gateway for more than 12 million immigrants between 1892 and 1954.

Central Park in New York City is one of the largest and most exciting urban parks in the world. It was opened in the 1850s and consists of green spaces, lakes, and extensive paths and tracks for walkers, joggers, cyclists, skaters, horses etc. Also to be found are ice-skating rinks, a zoo, an art museum and theatres. Central park offers peace from the fast paced life of the city and is a much-loved attraction on a New York City break.
A Broadway show (for example, a play or musical) is a must for many visitors to New York City. The lively Broadway theatre scene is world famous. Another renowned attraction is the Museum of Modern Art. The museum houses an enormous collection of works by great modern masters. The Guggenheim Museum is prized not only for its modern and contemporary art collections but also for its significant, architectural design and is well worth a visit.
