Please let us know if you would like this included in your personalised quotation.)The lead-in price from £699pp is available in the low season from November through to March. April to October prices start from £799pp. The price is based on two people sharing a twin/double room and may vary depending on choice of departure date. All holidays are tailor-made with extra nights, single rooms and hotel upgrades available at a supplement.

Your itinerary

Day 1

Travel by Eurostar to Brussels with onward connection by regional train to Leipzig via Frankfurt. (Depart London St Pancras 0858 arrive Brussels 1205. Depart Brussels 1425 arrive Frankfurt 1741. Depart Frankfurt 1919 arrive Leipzig 2256). On arrival in Leipzig make your own way to your hotel for 2 nights.

Day 2

Leipzig: Renowned as a city for music lovers. Bach lived and worked here. You can even explore the museum dedicated to his work. Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann also chose the city as home and Wagner was born here. The city centre is charming albeit small and compact but there is plenty to keep you occupied during your time here.

Day 3

Make your own way to the station for the journey by rail to Dresden where you will spend 3 nights. The journey time is approximately 1 hour and we will give you a choice of departure times.

Day 4

Dresden: Allied bombing and subsequent incoporation into the GDR left the Saxon town a little worse for wear, but it is successfully returning to its former glory. Don't miss the majestic Frauenkirche, which reopened in 2004 after a painstaking restoration project.

Day 5

Dresden:  Another day to discover more of this fascinating city.

Day 6

Make your own way to the station for the journey by rail to Cologne where you will spend 2 nights. Depart 1119 arrive 1845 (approx.)

Day 7

Cologne: Located on both sides of the River Rhine, Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany. It is steeped in history and offers the visitor famous museums, romantic churches, fabulous shopping and art galleries ranging from renaissance to avant-garde.  

Day 8

Make your own way to the railway station for the journey to Brussels where you will connect with the Eurostar back to London.

Our opinion… A welcoming 3 star hotel in the heart of Leipzig.

Location… Well located near the central train station.

Accommodation… Standard rooms are decorated in a bright, welcoming style. Amenities include air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, mini-bar, safe and an en-suite bathroom.

Facilities… Facilities include a complimentary wellness area with a sauna and steam room. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises. Guests can enjoy a range of drinks, snacks and light meals at the hotel bistro and lobby bar. A buffet breakfast is provided every morning and there are plenty of dining opportunities in the vicinity. The hotel has a 24-hour reception.

Transport… Local tram services provide fast and easy access to attractions across Leipzig.

Our opinion… A modern comfortable hotel. Well locate, providing a great base from which to explore this interesting city.

Location... Prager Str. 5, 01069. Dresden's Old Town, where guests will find the Semperoper opera, the Grünes Gewölbe vaults and the Frauenkirche church, is a 10-minute walk away.

Accommodation… 306 classic styled, comfortable rooms.

Facilities… As well as Saxon cooking, the restaurant at the Ibis Dresden Bastei serves international favourites and vegetarian dishes. The bar serves drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Transport... 500 metres from Dresden Main Station

Hotel Domspitzen

This is a great value, small, private run hotel with an excellent location.

The hotel offers friendly service, a warm atmosphere and boutique style features. Hotel Domspitzen is in the heart of Cologne, within walking distance of Musical Dome and Cologne Cathedral. Also nearby are Romano-Germanic Museum and City Hall.

The modern breakfast room on ground floor offers a German breakfast in the morning in a cosy atmosphere. Many restaurants and shops can be found within a 5-minute walk of the hotel.
