Gdansk City Breaks

Gdansk is a beautiful port city and in the sixteenth century it was the most important Baltic port and Poland’s largest city. Most tourist attractions in Gdansk are located along or near Long Street and Long Market, a pedestrian area surrounded by buildings, mostly from the seventeenth century. This part of the city is also known as the Royal Road, the former path of processions for visiting kings.

One of the most important attractions in Gdansk is the Golden Gate, part of the old city fortifications, designed by an architect Abraham van den Blocke in 1612. Make sure you stop by at St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in the world, built in 1379, is over 100 meters long and the nave is 60 meters wide and can accommodate 25000 worshippers.

Gdansk is part of the Three-City, made up of the towns of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot, which are only a short train or bus ride away, so you can visit other ports in neighbourhood.
