Dubrovnik City Breaks

Dubrovnik has a rich and somewhat chequered history making it a fascinating choice for a city break. The old town was completed in the 13th century and remains virtually unchanged to the present day, despite having endured an earthquake in 1667 and considerable shelling by the Serbs during the war in 1991/92.  On your Dubrovnik city break it is very easy to walk in and around the Old Town due to its size. However actually “exploring” the fascinating Old Town will keep you occupied for days on your city break.

What to see on  Dubrovnik City Breaks

You might like to start your Dubrovnik City Break by getting to know the city with a walk around the city walls.  Dating back to the 13th century, the walls run almost 2km around the perimeter of Dubrovnik. Continue your city break to Dubrovnik with a visit to the Franciscan Monastery. Founded in 1317 the Monastery is believed to be the oldest pharmacy in Europe. To meet the locals on your Dubrovnik city break you will need to head to the Placa, a wide, marble, pedestrian-only street which is Dubrovnik’s main public meeting space. Perhaps after a busy day of sightseeing in Dubrovnik you can wind things down on your city break with a drink at one of the many pavement cafes’.  One not to miss on your Dubrovnik city break is the Sponza Palace. A mix of Renaissance arches and Venetian-Gothic windows this is one of the few buildings to have survived the 1667 earthquake.
