Really cheap hotels in Krakow start at under £20 per person per night bed and breakfast. Of course you wont get any frills at these amazing prices but most properties are clean and comfortable with the basic requirements for a decent night's sleep and a shower!  The 2 star Hotel Daisy is often the cheapest available. It's typical of the genre, you may find the odd tired carpet or a boisterous school group and it's a few minutes walk from the bus but from there it's just a ten minute ride to the Old Market Square plaza in the heart of the city and there are many worse hotels in Krakow that are not as cheap as this. Nevertheless it really is only recommended for those on the strictest of budgets. Another 2 star that's cheap and cheerful is the Hotel Start. Close to Krakow's Tesco supermarket this hotel is near to a main tram route taking you direct into the city centre in around 10 minutes.

One of the best rated of the really cheap hotels in Krakow is the 2 star RT Galicya. Located south of the Wisla river in a pleasant suburban area, tram route 8 stops just outside and you can be right in the heart of the city centre in no time at all. Another cheap hotel in Krakow is the 3 star Hotel System.  This hotel offers outstanding value in terms of facilities but it is a few kms from the city centre so taxis are often the best way in and out unless you are very energetic. Nevertheless the hotel itself is excellent with luxuries like free broadband internet and a swimming pool which you wouldn't normally associate with a hotel offering such cheap prices. Similar in quality, the Express by Holiday Inn is another good 3 star option whilst the Hotel Ruczaj is an excellent value 3 star right on a tram route to the centre.

Even when you get closer to the city centre it is still possible to find cheap hotels in Krakow. The historic former Jewish Quarter of the city is now an up and coming trendy area with many excellent bars and restaurants. Here the twin properties of Hotel Kazimierz and Hotel Kazimierz II, both 3 stars, offer very good clean, comfortable accommodation at cheap rates for such a central location. Even closer to the medieval Old Town which is regarded as the heart of Krakow and nestling beneath the majestic Royal Castle on Wawel Hill is the fascinating Hotel Royal. Whilst only a 2 star property this hotel is surprisingly grand inside and some of the rooms are very large. As cheap hotels in Krakow go this one is one of the most interesting, being located in a fine 'fin de siecle' building with elegant furnishings.
